What do toilet paper and seed packets have to do with each other?

During the heyday of the Corona crisis, we were surprised by many behaviors. Certainly, nobody would have expected that it would be possible to empty the toilet paper shelves for weeks.

There was also a similar development in the horticultural trade and in the DIY stores - with seed packets.

This range in particular has had a shadowy existence in recent years and no store manager was really enthusiastic when it came to sales figures.

Corona and the year 2020 changed this view forever. Seed bags were sold out not only in Europe, but also in the USA, Australia and New Zealand. The attached picture shows a quota in England and empty Euro hole hooks could be found everywhere.

The last such push was in 2009 when Michel Obama planted vegetable patches around the White House and triggered a run on seed bags.

This year, 30% more seed bags were sold in the United States than in normal years. The year 2020 and Corona put it all in the shade. We are talking about increases of 300 to 600%.
